Title: Is this vase Murano? Czech?
Post by: Dominiks on March 01, 2016, 11:28:35 AM
Hello,

I have had this vase for some time now, when I bought it in a flea market, I was told it's from 1952. Recently I was told it might be Murano or perhaps Czech, late 50s/early 60s. I looked and only found vases slightly similar. Perhaps anyone is familiar with this design.

The bottom of the vase is just flat (and, well, scratched)

I'm thankful for any help or leads.

Hi,
 I do not think this is Czech.
It still looks like really good quality piece of modern studio glass. I hope you can find the maker. The fact it is not very new is good, as this means it is likely by someone identifiable. The scratches on the bottom are usually good news, as they can indicate some age. Please post a picture of the base, it can help identify glass sometimes.  An answer here can take many weeks, a nice piece of glass, good luck,

Robert,
 Thank you for the kind message and your insights. So far, so good. I too hope that I or someone can figure out the maker, or at least what direction to look. Although I'm even happy to hear, for example, you thinking it's not Czech. It helps to narrow things down.

I also forgot to add the measurements:
Height - 18 cm/7 in;
Length - 13 cm/5.1 in;
Width - 8 cm/3.1 in.

And here is a photograph of the base, I do hope it helps in some way.
