Title: Unknown flower miniature

Hi All,
This one has me stumped, I think the flower is a crocus, the weight has the accurate faceting and cutting of a quality maker, if the crocus was better crafted I'd be thinking maybe late Perthshire?

Any ideas? It's 40mm diameter and 30mm tall, the base is polished and slightly concave with little wear.

I don't think it's a crocus (wrong leaves), though I can't work out what sort of bud it's supposed to be

Hi Nick.  Maybe Caithness? I have had a couple of flowers in clear glass with unusual cutting that came from there.  A few years ago I asked Allan Scott about one, and he suggested that some unused lampwork had been made into a paperweight by an apprentice, and then cut as an exercise.

Perhaps a crocus made by someone with little horticultural knowledge, or just a stylised flower, which would maybe fit in with your suggestion of an apprentice piece Alan.
