Title: Vase with Fish decoration
Post by: Ben.unwin on March 11, 2016, 05:01:41 PM
I have this unusual vase with fish as a decoration, I've seen others described as Murano but I think its more likely to be Japanese?
Does anyone have any ideas, the bottom has an off centre base as shown in the photograph and the glass is quite thick and heavy!
Thanks in advance!

The fish look like those often seen in paperweights from China - form at least the 1970s to now.

The Chinese versions of vases with a "clear-over-decorated-over-clear" makeup are usually quite heavy. And an off-centre base also ties in with much Chinese work.

I have one - definitely not an Archimede Seguso aquarium, but great for the bathroom. Probably Far Eastern.
