At last I've found (and purchased) a 'reversed' polka-dot posy vase, 4-in high. Very hard to find this, so was very happy to stumble across it. Thanks to PC for urging me to stop at this new retro shop we discovered on the way back from B&Q. The two guys there have a lot of Chance handkerchief and posy vases.
This and more new finds are being posted fairly regularly on http://chanceglass.wix.com/thirdeditions

Very nice and where would this shop be ? ;D ;D
-
Aha, that'd be telling!
It's on the A458 (Hagley Road West) on the junction of Kingsway:

Now I've told you. Only been open for 4 months.
-
Hey, that's my neck of the woods, how come I've not seen that before ?
-
Only been open four months and it PC thought it was a charity shop when we passed - but open on a Sunday?
Nice shop although prices are not very Keith-friendly! ;D
-
They are a bit steep but I managed to wangle them down and got these....two 7 inch and a 4 inch, ;D ;D have just realised I don't have any 'Hammered' ! ::)
-
Love the website, very professional looking.
-
Thanks for the compliments, Chris. I trust you found the Flora biscuit barrel on there, which you bought on my behalf.
Keith, is the Candy Stripe on opal-flashed glass? If so, it's much scarcer than the ones with a white enameled background.
-
Yes, and the creamers, still keeping an eye out for you for other items, fingers crossed.
-
Just plain old glass I'm afraid ::) ;D ;D
-
Is the non reversed hankie red with white spots then?
I've got some textured hankies in need of being turfed out, (They're hidden from Michael who would have kittens if he knew about them. We haven't room for more cats.)
Don't go spending money when you can have these ones I don't want, Keith! We'll find a way of getting them to you at minimum cost too, while various folk travel around.
-
Thanks Sue, any 'hammered' would be great, think I have around 30 at the moment and no space to put anything, although that doesn't stop me getting more ::) :o :o
-
Is that the one with the big lensy bits?
Or the one that looks like loads of woodlice in a big huddle?
-
The big lensy one, usually in amber ;D ;D
-
That's large Flemish. Hammered is the "small bobbly one", not to be confused with Arctic, which resembles woodlice. RTFM ;D I'm glad more people are taking an interest in the textured vases.
Off to Newark in a short while for the usual larks.
-
I've found a huge, deep blue woodlice; a small lumpy-bobbly amber, two small flat-bobbly turquoise and a small flat-bobbly green (with label).
And a big lensy flat frilly gilded plate in turquoise... so far. I haven't really investigated my stores of non-hankies.
I'm sure I had a big lensy small green yesterday, but am going through a phase of not being able to see what is staring me in the face. ;D
I found a huge orange pinstripe too.
-
Right I'm confused now, nothing new !
First picture, correct me if I' wrong ;D is a 7 inch Arctic,
2nd...4 inch Cotswold,
3rd...4 inch Flemish and
4th 7 inch Flemish ????? doesn't really look like the picture on page 106 2nd one up from the bottom,
help, ::) ::) ;D ;D the last two are the same colour.
-
Heck, I just love these terms "big lensy", "flat-bobbly" and so on! :D
1: Arctic, but 7-inch is very scarce.
2: Cotswold
3: Small Flemish
4: Small Flemish
Large Flemish ("big lensy" if you prefer) is the amber 7-inch vase shown here.
-
Let me see if I've got this now, so a 'small Flemish' refers to the pattern and not the vase size, the last one is a 7inch but is still called a 'small Flemish' ? ::) ;D one more thing, what colour is this ?
-
Small Flemish is flat-bobbly then?
My secret stash is not much help to you Keith.
I've got the 7" deep blue Arctic you show there, (the one David says is scarce!), you don't need another, I don't suppose?
I have two 4" small Flemish, the same turquoise as yours, unless you need more?
And a 4" amber Hammered (big-bobbly).
-
Keith,
Your Waverley bowl is was sold by Chance as Champagne in colour
Your Candy Stripe vase looks opal flashed to me as there doesn't appear to be a clear border on it
-
Small Flemish is the texture, which has much smaller 'lenses' than large Flemish, the latter of which is what you prefer, I think.
Sue, using terms like 'flat-bobbly' doesn't really help, so if you have Chance Expressions to hand, then just consult p.106. I think you are referring to small Flemish.
one more thing, what colour is this ?
Champagne, by the look of it. Thanks Stuart, I didn't see your post on the next page ::)
-
:-[ If I were to get the book out, I'd forget what I wanted it for by the time I'd got to the shelf it lives on right now. I can only hold on to two bits of information at one time and even that's a strain. Add on trying to walk and it's gone. ::)
-
Thanks Stuart, had a look at the candy stripe and you're right no clear border, think I'm with it now David ::) so I still need a 'Hammered' so Sue if you still want to get rid of your 4 inch I'll take it ;D ;D
-
Grand. It's yours.
So you don't want my lousy blue 7" atrctic?
-
Ta, ;D ;D ;D
-
Perhaps Stuart is interested? I wouldn't mind it myself, but the East Wing is already full :o ;D
-
There's a small 4" small fmelish, with label, in green.
It was sitting in front of me.
