Title: Gallé vase

Just a question out of interest about the vase in the link.

On picture 4 you can see that the main body of the vase, is clear. There is a layer of colour on the inside and, obviously, two on the outside.
From what I've read and always understood, is that the base or main body (as in without the two outer layers) should have been made of coloured glass and not of clear glass. The rim's also been cut, as it isn't smooth enough, imo.

I'm not thinking about buying it, please don't get me wrong. I'm just wondering if I've been getting it wrong all this time...

Here's another one with a similar technique ...

Thank you for your thoughts.
