Title: Murano - red butterfly cane. ID = Fratelli Toso
Post by: adam20 on April 14, 2016, 12:23:49 AM
I wondered if the red butterfly cane on the outer row meant anything - it s a pretty standard piece but nice never the less - the cane is quite obviously put there and not a mistake - I sold this one but wondered for future reference

There is a lot of aventurine to the base - which seems pretty strange since it doesn't show to top at all

Thanks

They are all typical Fratelli Toso canes Adam, I would be surprised if there was any significance to that 'odd cane out'. Same with the aventurine in the base, many of these weights have this feature.

The odd one out is not a "butterfly cane". It is more like a "leaded window" with outlined sections.

It is a bit odd that there should be just one of those canes in the outer ring - it may have been deliberate or just a case of that cane being added without realizing.

Thanks - I did not know it was Fratelli Toso - I know very little about Italian weights
