Any ideas about this one would be appreciated. A cuboid Dartington Glass paperweight with the letter "B". It has the remains of an old label. 2.25" x 1.5" x 1.75". The base is slightly convex.
I can't see mention of one in online catalogues and have never seen one of these before.
It seems strange to have a letter. I can't imagine that they made them with every single letter of the alphabet ???
TIA :)

The base is slightly concave in the centre - not "convex" ::)

It's for holding down the bits of paper to be filed away in the B-for-Bin? ;)
The texture looks to be an old one, I've got a square-ish pot with the same texture, which I have had since the early '70s, it was a christmas present from mother, just after Studio One, a really trendy gift-shop, opened in Edinburgh. My pot is a Frank Thrower thing.

Possibly produced for a corporate client, Anne?

Many thanks for your replies. :-*
I'll use it for bills, before consigning them to the bin ;D

Why not?
Caithness issued in 1981 a series of "Initial" paperweights (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=3266&category_id=48&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6) with a central letter cane. I have not seen all letters of the alphabet so far, but quite a few.
