Title: Glass goblet with insect like stem
Post by: Ben.unwin on April 18, 2016, 05:17:55 PM
Unusual clear glass goblet measuring 7.5" in height with a rim diameter of 3.25"
Has a strange stem which looks like insects but someone probably knows the correct terminology.
Quite thick glass at least 3mm thick.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Looks very thorn like, the thorn vases were around about 120 years ago, does it look to have any signs of age?.

Would look great in my drinking glass collection I like weird looking glass.

It does appear to have some age, there are some air bubbles, the glass isn't completely clear, has a white tinge too it and the base looks to have a pontil that's been half polished..

My tummy's opinion  ;D  is that it is most likely some recent studio piece. The thorny bits are rounder and lumpier than old thorny bits, the odd-angled bobbly style of stem was very popular for early studio glass goblets, and the clear colour of the metal suggests the use of crystal in the pot rather than an old glass formula.
I was wondering if it might be Karlin Rushbrooke...
