Title: Informations about Portieux
Post by: Cláudio on May 02, 2016, 10:49:19 PM
Hello everybody!

I have two questions about Portieux glass.
Did Portieux produced Carnival Glass?
And the name "Portieux" was always marked on the glasses?

If someone could help me, i will be very glad! :)

I do not think they did, I have never seen any. The range of models is wide, most of those were made at the sister works in Valérysthal - but I do not think they added iridescence.  If you show us a photograph we will probably be able to identify it by the model alone.

Portieux is rarely marked.

I suspect that some moulds from Portieux were used by a brazilian glass maker.
Here in Brazil we find pieces with the same colors found in Europe, some are marked with Portieux name and some are not.
But we still find carnival pieces atributed to Portieux that i aways thought it was strange.
In the next days i will writte about it and will show some photos too.
For now, thanks a lot Ivo! It was helpfull!
And i will be back very soon with the photos!
