Not IoWSG - they don't tend to have polished rims.

I really think this is Czech, Petr Hora comes to mind - I'll check.

Having kicked the poor cat off the Robert and Jindrich's book (I hadn't realised she was sleeping on it!) yes, Petr Hora. :)

Thanks for the swift reply Sue and apology's to the cat. Czech glass is a grey area for me ,does the book give a timeline for this series or a name?
I would like to own some of his cold worked sculptural pieces of glass.
Thanks again
Tim

I've been told I've made a big booboo. Sorry.
Petr Hora did do vases with a big splash of enamels in, but one this shape or with a black backgorund is not in the book - I was going only by the splash feature, I wasn't looking as closely as I should have.

But your vase is surface decorated, isn't it?

I rather think it's something contemporary.
I am sorry. I got all excited for you, but I was mistaken.

Thanks for the correction sue, something didn't seem quite right when I looked at the images for his work on line.
The glass is surface decorated, and not much surface wear to the base.
Thanks again sue.
Any further thoughts from anybody?
Tim

I suspect it's something quite new, but I honestly don't know what.
I'm making an appointment to get my eyes tested for new glasses this week. It's about 5 years overdue, and I'm blaming that for my embarrassing misidentification troubles. ;D
My friend who told me I'd got it wrong has been highly amused and laughing gently at me. He does know I need new glasses, he just didn't know quite how much! :-[

Pieces with very similar surface decoration are seen here quite often - with "Ambiente Zwiesel" labels.
Here is one on ebay: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Vase-aus-Glas-matt-ambiente-Zwiesel-10724-/172136039366 (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Vase-aus-Glas-matt-ambiente-Zwiesel-10724-/172136039366)

I don't know if Zwiesel made these, or just marketed them.

Thanks very much for that Michael and for posting the image. The fine application of the design and the matt finish of the main body
look exactly the same as my piece.
With that name I shall have look through some images and try to get a positive Identification.
Thanks again,
Tim

Very similar pieces also seem to have been retailed in the UK by a company called 'Nobile Glassware', although its unclear exactly where these pieces were produced. Similar pieces can be seen their past and present online catalogues....
