Good day all
I just found this forum - hoping to get help/pictures/actual glasses...
I work with a small glass industrial heritage museum near Kosta, Sweden.
We have a biggish "etching machine", rather a pantograph for duplicating a pattern onto 24 glasses before etching them, from Kosta glassworks. We also have some 120 templates (with some 200 different patterns) used on this machine - among them 12 related to London hotels and restaurants.
It would be very nice to have some actual glasses, of course, but pictures would be almost as good...
The 12 pattern templates can be seen on http://bergdala-glastekniska-museum.se/eng-london-baserade.html (http://bergdala-glastekniska-museum.se/eng-london-baserade.html) together with the one picture we have found of such a glass.
All or any help would be highly appreciated!
(and: we have done our best to get the terminology as accurate as we know how - but we also would be happy to get suggestions of how to get it better - there is a "contact us" button, or write it here, or PM me)

Hi Kerstin, welcome to the GMB.
Have you contacted any of these establishments directly? The Ritz, Claridges and The Savoy are large, luxury hotels and Scotts is a rather smart restaurant. They will all have public relations personnel who would probably encourage positive publicity, such as helping a museum.
Kind regards

Yes. (some 3 weeks ago, in person)
The only place interested was the Savoy, where I got an e-mail addy - the person at the other end has not answered.
Most other (existing) places only said something akin to "they are probably all gone now, as they would be about 100 years old" (which is of course probably true...) At the Ritz I learned that "our" logo is not the original (from 1906), but nobody knew when it changed.
I have also tried several online sell-and-buy sites, but sometimes my google-fu deserts me... so I will continue searching.

Hi Kerstin and welcome to the board.
What an interesting project that is you are doing, I do hope that some of our members may be able to help you find examples. With almost 9,000 members on the board there's a chance that someone may have an example or two tucked away in their collection, so please don't despair. Not everyone visits the board daily so it may take a wee while to get some replies, but in the meantime we can search for you too. 8)

Indeed, now we know what we're looking for, we can add "looking out for these etched glasses" on our travels.
Welcome. I'm sure we will do our best to help you. :)

... and maybe I dare add... links to odd (as in one, max two) etched Kosta glasses at reasonable prices (except Elon and St Erik) would also be of interest...
Thanks for the welcome!

Bumping this, 'cos if UK is anything like Sweden, now is the time for flea markets!
ISO the actual glasses ("reasonable" cost) AND/OR photographs!!!
London hotels and/or restaurants as seen http://bergdala-glastekniska-museum.se/eng-london-baserade.html (http://bergdala-glastekniska-museum.se/eng-london-baserade.html): probably very simple stemmed glasses, probably only one etched motif.
Hotels: Berkeley, Cecil, Claridge's, Ritz, Savoy, Whitehall ct
Restaurants: Frascati, New Gallery, the Princes, Scott's
