Hi this bowl Interior has a similar surface to the iridescent carnival glass (not stretched or pulled though) to me, but the exterior is like Thomas Webb bronze glass I think? It's got a rough pontil to the base so is hand blown and is 8.5" wide across the widest point. Is it a Thomas Webb piece or something else please? Thanks :)

What colour is the glass when held to the light, Webb is usually green but not always, so I've been told ::) ;D
-
Hi the glass around the pontil scar appears to be a very dark blue/purple almost black ground. I took the strong torch within my phone to a dimmed room with closed curtains and tried to shine the torch through the glass which didn't let much light through at all. The result was a small red dot ;D

Ok, any chance of a close up of the surface and pontil mark, ;D
-
Yes here's the outside of the glass which the bronze hue shows different intensities depending on the angle/light and condition, the base also has a lot of shelf wear so I believe that it's got some age 😀
-
This shows the inside of the glass with only a bit of a bronze hue to the base, but quite shiny glass. Hope they help, and let me know if you need any more 😀 Thanks

Not sure now if it is Webbs, the pontil mark and surface finish look different to what I'm familiar with, that doesn't mean it isn't though, these are pic's of what I'm pretty sure is a Webb bronze, see what you think, ;D

Hi Keith, thanks for your reply 😀 The pontil scar to the base of my bowl is recessed quite deep in places which may account for it not being ground down that much but that resembles the base for your last pic, but the surface of the glass you have shown has a fine crackle like texture I think, which my bowl doesn't? Not sure if this leads it totally away from Webb or not? :) Chriss

Sorry reposted the closer pic of the pontil scar by mistake ;D

Could it be Kralik?
-
It is similar in shape to the 'knuckle' bowls, ;D

First two vases in the third row down look to have this kind of finish: http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralikdecoshapearray3.html
This bowl could be the shape: http://www.kralik-glass.com/kralik-images/decoshapes/kds104.jpg

Strange Kevin, just clicked on it and it worked fine for me. It is the bowl near the bottom of the page in the first link, 2nd row from bottom, 2nd from left.

Hi thanks for the reply and help but I have been on the links, first one I can get on no problem, but the 2nd link states a msg error of

I copied and pasted it
I've followed glassobsessed description of where on the page the shape that has been suggested is and if the bulbous base was not on the bowl, it is the same shape. Also I've got a number of kralik pieces, and looking at the base of them, some have pontil marks which have been partially polished in the centre of the base, leaving recesses and rough areas still, in the same way as this bowl., it's not good light at the mo, but I could put some pics up over the weekend if wanted? 😀👍

I had a vase this colour a while back with a broken pontil mark and a small label with the letters SIA on, which, if I remember correctly is an import / export company from Italy, it's been a while and no longer have the vase, I think ::) but I thought it was Webb's then, very oily coloured, not much help really, ::) ;D ;D ( I'll check in the morning, see if it's still around )
