Another of my recent car boot finds i'm finding difficult to date as i have never seen anything like it before.
It has a hollow stem, a small rough pontil with wear to the foot rim and a lead crystal ring.
11 inches in height, 6 inches across the rim and 5 1/2 inches across the base.
I'm not even sure if it has a purpose other than decorative.
Regards Chris.

A grape rinser? The grotty bits fall down the stem away from the grapes
-
Could be, it's big enough for a large bunch of grapes, the stem is hollow and the bowl blown separate so no hole for draining.
-
could be a grape rinser - we've had them on here before - looks too big for drinking booze. Use the search and see what pops up under rinsers.
I don't recall that rinsers had drain holes - but mostly what intrigues is that the glass looks a tad thin perhaps. Just guessing.

A picture next to a standard sized tin can to give an idea of size.

That would do me for a whisky glass ! :o :o ;D ;D

apologies for confusion, just noticed my error - you won't get grape rinsers if you simply put in 'rinsers'................ as these are stemless bowls for rinsing your wine glasses between food courses - as am sure you will know. So if you do use the search, make sure you say grape rinsers.
pieces with really substantial bowls like this one, were sometimes used as 'serving rummers' - you made up your punch or whatever, and then used a toddy lifter to dispense the liquid into smaller drinking glasses - this is just an off the wall comment, and I dare say yours isn't a serving rummer - but thought it worth mentioning out of interest.
