Title: Murano paperweight with pontil scar
Post by: SNJ on July 21, 2016, 10:18:41 PM
Would someone mind suggesting a possible manufacturer of this paperwork? 3" tall, five controlled bubbles forming each flower's central  stamen (or is that a stigma?), strong pontil scar and lots of wear on the base? Murano or no? Many thanks in advance!

Hi.  I don't think it is Murano.  It looks like pieces made in many European countries (Germany, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Alsace etc) in the early 20th century.  Peter von Brackel's first book (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Paperweights-Historicism-Nouveau-Schiffer-Collectors/dp/0764310526?ie=UTF8&redirect=true&tag=crosscountrys-21) shows various versions of similar pieces.

Thank you, Alan, for pointing me in (roughly) the right direction.
