I can not see this one on here, i think the lozenge reads RD 350083.
4 inches in length, 2 inches in height and 1 3/4 inches in depth.

Another shot of the lozenge.

this is one of eleven Registrations from 24th May 1880, and looking at the Kew drawing appears to be 350085. Don't have all of my books to hand presently unsure how we get to 350083 - is it Cottle perhaps?
Presumably, if this design not been on here before then might mean this is a rare ish piece?? So it's a vase then - perhaps a posy vase.
-
The RD Paul was the first one listed on the great glass marks web site, I did not know what else to put having only that and the pattern book to go by. I'm not sure if these pieces are rare I just do not think there are enough people looking for them or sharing them when they find them or even know what they are looking at.

Thank you for showing this rarity, Chris, and thank you, Paul, for showing the corresponding Sowerby design representation.
I was drafting out this reply before Paul had posted his reply, so there may still be some crossover of information.
Sowerby pattern 1505 is shown on page 10 of their pattern book IX (1882) , but I can't recall seeing any photos of actual examples anywhere else. The design representation describes it as a 'vase' as do Simon Cottle and Jenny Thompson.
The lozenge is for 24 May 1880 - Parcel 8, which covers a bundle of 11 designs - RDs 350083 to 350093 inclusive.
Simon Cottle ("Sowerby -Gateshead Glass", page 103) collates most of the RDs in the bundle with their pattern numbers as follows:
RD 350083 pattern 1480 bowl IX, p10
RD 350084 pattern 1482 sugar basin IX, p10
RD 350085 vase
RD 350086 dish
RD 350087 pattern 1473 basket IX, p9
RD 350088 pattern 1475 basket IX, p9
RD 350089 pattern 1482 bowl & jug IX, p10
RD 350090 pattern 1477 bowl IX, p9
RD 350091 pattern 1474 trinket IX, p9
RD 350092 pattern 1476 trinket IX, p9
RD 350093 butter dish
Now, thanks to Paul, we know that RD 350085 is definitely Sowerby pattern 1505, and, assuming that Cottle's collation of the other RDs is correct, that only leaves RDs 350086 and 350093 from the bundle to be allocated their corresponding Sowerby pattern numbers.

A good find I would imagine Chris. Please let me know Fred if you require Kew images for any or all of the other ten Registrations....
I may of course already have posted some of them, but for the moment don't recall. :)
-
It's good to complete the whole picture, thanks both and I'll post any others I find that are not pictured or I can not find info on and anyone can use the pictures, regards Chris.
-
Paul, the only design representation pic from that I have from this RD 350083-350093 bundle is the RD 350085 image that you have posted here.
Pics of design representations for RDs 350086 and 350093 would be very useful, please, as they would (hopefully) help reveal the corresponding Sowerby pattern numbers and thereby complete the collation for all eleven designs.

o.k. - will do later today. :)

trust these will help - and if you do want any of the others from that date, let me know.

Your assistance is much appreciated, Paul.
I'm not really surprised that Cottle doesn't allocate pattern numbers to Sowerby RDs 350086 and 350093. Neither design is for one of the small, decorative pieces that appear in the 1882 pattern book. In fact, both designs are for pieces of domestic tableware that are lurking in the Sowerby pattern book XI from 1885:
RD 350086 corresponds to an octagonal dish, pattern 1486 (or 1486 1/2[half] for the smaller version) shown on page 27. No indication in the pattern book that this is a registered design.
RD 350093 corresponds to a lidded butter dish, pattern 1491, shown on page 7. Indicated in the pattern book that this is a registered design.
I don't have reference photos for either pattern 1486 or 1491 - does anyone have photos to show, please?
Fred.
