Animals not my thing but another of this morning's bits and bobs that couldn't resist......... the moulding is very good and can't imagine pieces with an extremity like this trunk will remain complete for too long.
Not the remotest idea as to origin or maker, could be tat of course - not old I'm sure - and the mark is very small (2.0 - 2.5 mm high) - in relief and placed toward the rear of the plinth and about half way down ... it reads either 1X or possibly IX.
Maximum height is almost 6 inches (about 150 mm).
Hope someone mighty know a little about this one please. thanks. :)

Hello Paul, try Durand for Cristal d'Arques.
-
many thanks for your suggestion Anne - I will certainly try that direction, and let you know if successful. :)

Most likely Cristal d'Arques, but just possibly Royal Crystal Rock RCR - but the base is dis-similar to a different RCR elephant family I have.
Unlabelled one like yours here, Paul with a labelled RCR swan piece for comparison : LINK on EBAY (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Two-Beautiful-RCR-Royal-Crystal-Rock-Lead-Crystal-Figurines-Swans-And-Elephant-/131895235657?hash=item1eb5919449:g:8ZcAAOSwaB5XnNZD)
Collection of Cristal d'Arques ones here: LINK on EBAY (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CRISTAL-DARQUES-France-Lead-Crystal-ANIMALS-BIRDS-YOU-CHOOSE-FREE-UK-P-P-/351411362036)

appreciate the links Anne - can confirm I've now found several identical on ebay all with the Crystal d'Arques label. Many thanks to both Annes for the help. :)

I was a little late seeing this thread, but I agree, definately Crystal d'Arques.
I think this set (there are several other animals available) are underrated, nicely observed pieces... and I can say the same for Royal Crystal Roc which is an Italian company.
I can quite see why you were attracted to this lovely ellie Paul. :)
