Title: Hi, I need help.
Post by: MatthewJohn on August 04, 2016, 04:31:46 AM
First let me express how sorry I am to bother you all with this. My great Aunt and Uncle passed away shortly afterwards my dad passed so I inherited A LOT of items. I am at my wits end and am turning to you for help. I have this piece of glassware...a spittoon? I can find an image but cannot find any other information. Please help a noob :(

The mark is DBS I do a google search and nothing comes up except "Carnival Glass" and Fenton.

I really appreciate any help.

Hi and welcome to the board,

The only mention of a DBS mark I can find is on David Doty's site: http://www.ddoty.com/makermarks.html

Scroll down to the entry for "Mimi" :)

So your piece is carnival glass and was apparently made at Fenton no earlier than the 1970s. While it's a fairly modern piece it looks fantastic.

Thanks for your kind welcome. And thanks for linking this. You have helped me more than I could myself lol. It is appreciated.

Welcome from me too.  :)
You are not a bother, we love having things to identify, it's why we're here.
The more questions asked, the more thinking is done and more answers appear and we all learn from this.

Thank you for posting your images directly to the board - it is very much appreciated, and for taking good shots of the marks.
Looking forward to seeing more of you. :)

:D Thank you. Does the Glass Message Board cover ceramic figurines. I have concluded my great Aunt was a "crazy" cat lady...so much cat stuff...

The GMB is Glass only. For ceramics try a "sister Board": http://www.yobunny.com/pottery/
