Title: Unusual design oversized brandy glass ID please
Post by: Ashley on August 08, 2016, 04:06:59 PM
Hi, can anyone tell me anything about this oversized brandy glass? Country of origin and known artist? I have had them before but never with this type of retro design. I assume the decoration is original and 1960's or early 1970's? The glass bowl itself is white with a clear stem and foot and with raised gilded design. It is 12.5 inches high, 6 inch diameter base. Many thanks for looking, Ashley

I've always believe these were Venetian/Murano in origin and I think 60s is the correct date to assume.
Someone else will be able to help further with a bit more knowledge than me  ;D

Similar motifs are typically found on Italian pottery of the 50s and 60s:

Thanks John & Ben - yes the design is very similar to those pottery vases, especially the way the hair has been done. Many thanks - Ashley
