Are they modern Italian or old French opaline? They have rough pontils and are slightly different in shape. They show some signs of age and were very dirty when I bought them.

Good question. I vote French, Portieux. Reason I have seen these quite frequently on markets in France, in bleu, in rose and in blanc. Timewise 1880s to 1930s is as close as I dare to frame it. But I have been wrong before, of course.

I was hoping they are French, they are a slightly darker blue than other French opaline I have seen which is why I thought they could be Italian. Im sure I have seen similar made by Stelvia or other empoli manufacturers.
