Title: Monart museum
Post by: Gary on August 29, 2016, 06:12:08 PM
An interesting article on the possibility of a Monart Museum in Perth and Kinross.
See link below.

I have offered Scott Gilmore any help with going forward with his plan of establishing a Monart museum.
If any member can help contact Scott on the number given in the article
We have arranged a meeting this week to discuss how I could be assistance and I will give updates to the board.
Scot worked at Moncrieff Glassworks prior to when it finally closed.

you say Monart Museum but when I read the article its a Moncrieff museum to cover the  history and  glass ware etc  made over  the 150 years of trading

In the new premises part of the reception area will be given over to telling the history of the business, commemorating the company’s past and the glassware produced throughout the 150 years of trading.

Mod: above text converted from bracketed text to Quoted text for clarity.

It does sound interesting.
But it is, after all, an article in The Courier. ::)  :-X  ::)

I only used the word museum as this was the term used in the article, as quoted below
"Anyone with items they would like to contribute to the museum area should contact John Moncreiff Ltd on 01577 864870."
I have had 2 meetings with Scott Gilmore and his intentions is to concentrate his new reception area over to showcasing the production of Monart glass.

It does sound interesting.

True.
Though Scott Gilmore is enthusiastic about showcasing Monart glass at his new premises.

I take it to contribute could be to donate and or to loan items? if the latter would the items be insured or will the museum be  donated items only?

You can always trust The Courier to be completely lacking in actual information.
I don't think the two of you are discussing the word museum, but the choice of Moncrieff or Monart beforehand.

I have another meeting with Scott this Thursday at the new premises, so hopefully I can answer some these questions after that.
