Title: Is this controlled bubble Murano ashtray?

I found this recently, and love it! It is very tactile. I love researching my finds and would like to know what it is and where it was made. Do you think it's Murano glass? I know it is made with a technique called controlled bubble. I also think it was made to be used as an ashtray, due to the three cigarette sized indentations along the three top 'petals' . What would you describe the form as, it's very organic and I'm thinking an open sea urchin.

The fine scratches on the bottom seem to suggest it is not a new item.

It is about the size of a very large Navel Orange and weighs 735g. Any information would be gratefully received. THANK YOU!

Until recently I would have agreed it is likely to be Murano.  However I just bought a clear controlled bubble bowl that I assumed was Murano but in fact was Aseda from Sweden.  I am inclined to think yours may be as well.

Hmmm well that gave me something to think about. I found something similar in colbalt blue (see below) on Pinterest attributed to FAW Johansson at Aseda, but I couldn't follow it up as Modernistglass.com is no longer in existence so the trail went cold.
Then I found a similar looking bowl attributed to Murano - same colours as mine but mine has obviously been worked more. Still searching...

The trouble with these simple controlled bubble items is that they were made in lots of places by lots of makers and it's hard to rule any maker in or out (though we can rule out Whitefriars). It could even be Czech

That blue one looks like mine, but mine is clear glass.

Both yours and mine are most likely to have been created in a mould so I don't believe one is more "worked" than the other.

OK so I probably won't know for sure where it was made then... And thanks for the info about it being moulded. Hadn't thought of that, but was wondering how it was made!
