Title: Baccarat Bambous Rose Tiente Candlestick T40
Post by: Gowdod on October 08, 2016, 10:34:00 AM
Dear All,

I regularly see and acquire Rose tiente pieces when presented to myself however do not recall seeing a Candlestick in this colourway.

Signed Baccarat on the base and Depose on the opposing side.

I've found this through earlier searches here giving a point to the T40:

However no reference to a Rose version.

Any thoughts

Kind Regards

Andrew

An announcement on the bay talks about the catalogue of 1921 but I can't find it back. The catalogue, I've read, is nearly all about the Malmaison series apparently.

Dear Anne,

thank you, I'll search for 1921.  :)

Found one picture so on " Replacements.com " of the same piece however no more details. Baccarat " Swirl " has also been a style mentioned for I guess sale in the UK or other regions.

I appreciate your feedback.

With kind regards

Andrew

I keep on coming across this word 'tiente' but I wonder what it stands for in this context. It doesn't show on the catalogue mentioned above and in French it doesn't mean anything  ???

Swirl is obvious an English word, the French word would be torsadé, hence the name Bambous Tors.

Anne, I wonder if it is a misspelling of teinte? (Translates as colour). It only takes one original error and everyone copies it across t'internet so you see it everywhere...   ::)

I did not want to mention it but indeed Anne, my thoughts too. Somebody at some point must have read Baccarat Bambous rose teinté. Like this it translates as  'tinted pink'.

Perhaps the easiest for Andrew is  to contact Baccarat to find out more.

Dear Both,

thank you for your considered responses and you are right Tiente/Teinte has been transposed. A bit like you say Tomatoe and I say Tomato.  :P

Well that's a new one for me, I've never considered that there would be a Musee De Baccarat. Fantastic. I must open my eyes wider.  :)

Have a super evening.

Kind regards

Andrew

Only just seen this so you may already have the answer
Ive always known this as Rose Tint , the Americans sometimes call it Amberine.
I cant find the page with your candlestick on it (but I know it exisits) but this shows a page from the Baccarat catalogue
Identifying the colour and pattern.

Thanks billben for the catalogue image. I think I might have more sheets from these somewhere and I'm pretty sure Frank has too, so I'll look for the candlestick.

Andrew (gowdod) may I use your super photo on the Glass Trinket Sets website please?

Edited to add image...
Shown on page 10 of the 1903-4 Baccarat catalogue - candlestick in Cristal Rose Teinté - two styles, one with attached drip catching cup (T99) and one with detached cup (T100).
