Title: Centrepiece base maker? ID = Edward Moore & Co
Post by: SNJ on October 13, 2016, 08:06:59 PM
Bought this centrepiece base at auction yesterday and wonder if anyone could give any thoughts on maker or even country of origin, please? Lovely neoclassical figure support moulded, I think, in three parts. The whole thing stands at about 16" with the figure roughly 8".

Hi SNJ,
I think you may have an Edward Moore centrepiece from the 1880's, as seen on page 3 at the bottom of the page here:

Nice thing and I'd imagine quite rare.
King regards

Wow, thanks Nick, and well spotted! In the flesh it looks identical to the illustration so it seems a pretty reasonable attribution. I am much indebted.
