8 inches across, first I've seen ;D

Dear Keith,
I see you you took the " Chance " on it. ;)
Is it a solid white piece or a satin/acid washed glass on the bowl exterior, it is difficult to see in the picture?
Also does your piece have the domed or annular ring base?
Great find.
With kind regards
Andrew

Hello Andrew, washed on the outside with an annular ring base, we sound like a right pair of nerds ! ::) ;D ;D
-
You have seen one before: Chance Expressions, p.17! ;D
I doubt that Chance experimented with exterior finishes until after the war - probably 1950 onwards. All examples with the domed base have only been seen in clear or self-coloured glass.
-
So there is , missed that one ::) ;D ;D
-
I had a sugar bowl. It's an enamel finish isn't it http://lustrousstone.co.uk/cpg/displayimage.php?pid=72
-
No, it should be acid-etched or sandblasted - possibly the latter.
-
Don't think this is sand blasted, it seems to be some kind of powdery spray on 'stuff ' silky to touch ??? ;D ;D
-
I really can't say without seeing it, but it does look sprayed. The one I have is definitely sand-blasted or acid-etched so I wasn't aware of a sprayed version. Doesn't look as good as 'normal' frosted glass, I must admit.
Christine, I think yours is sprayed a very pale green, but I think it is like other enamelled Spiderweb.
-
No, mine was definitely white and sprayed. Bad photo and piece long gone
-
Looks like a watered down version of the stuff they used on this milk jug.
-
Yes, those were enamelled and the surface was then wiped leaving the paint in the recesses. Spraying Spiderweb is known, but I was not aware of plain white.
