One of the Bohemian (assumed) vases that have been dogging Monart collectors for year has shown up on eBay with a signature "T Y G" or "T V G"

I don't particularly like the look of the signature and I cannot be 100% sure it is the same type of glass, bit I do have an example in this colouring. Usually the are Orange/Amber and Green, or Red and Blue.

Any ideas on this signature which is not in Hartmann?

T V G = Teign Valley Glass ?

The only TVG I know of is Teign Valley Glass. I believe they sign their pieces with a TGV in diamond point, though this piece doesn't look like any of their current output. I'm not familiar with their earlier pieces though, I think they have been active since the early 80's so it might be worth looking into.

This is the signature on a Teign Valley Glass perfume bottle I have, for comparison. There are some differences but that could just be another hand.

TVG is, indeed, Teign Valley Glass.
They have a website: http://www.teignvalleyglass.com/about.htm But perhaps they no longer make the coloured "spatter-ware" as the current selections are entirely different.

I have a small vase, 3 7/8 inch (9.8 cm) height, in the same colouring as the one shown in the eBay listing and with "T V G" marked to the edge of the "pontil area". The signature is almost invisible under normal scrutiny.

(monochrome image, general form of lettering highlighted in white - note that it seems the tool slipped and there is a double down-stroke for the "T")

The overall look of the way the colour is applied is similar to the work of Wedgwood glass, such as for their animals (elephants, owls etc.) I have never really thought of these (TVG or Wedgwood) as being the same as the examples that have been shown in the ysartglass pages. But I can see that some, from a distance do have a likeness. And maybe some of those shown really were out of TVG (or Wedgwood??).

Ahh well, back to the hunt :cry:
