Title: Iridescent vase - ? Thomas Webb
Post by: Anne E.B. on October 30, 2016, 06:07:56 PM
Not mine unfortunately, so asking on behalf of my son.
I think this just might be a Thomas Webb Bronze Ware piece.  The base glass is green with external blue/purple iridescence with flashes of bronze which is more seen around the neck and on the base.
It looks rather like a Roman vessel IMHO, so might tie in with their pieces made to look as though they were dug up from archeological digs, if I'm correct ???  Snapped off but smooth pontil mark, and age related wear around the base rim.  Just under 6" high.
Am I on the right track?  I have just spotted that Richardson tried something similar, according to my copy of Hadjamach's  British Glass 1800-1914 p.116.
TIA :)

So it is Keith.
Mine's the female version, with a waist ;)
Hopefully we'll get confirmation one way or another.
