Title: Opaque white vase with blue base and rim, pineapple mould, Victorian?
Post by: glassobsessed on November 04, 2016, 05:54:45 PM
A mould blown vase with applied foot and trailed rim, 12.5cm tall, best I can do for the moulded pattern is pineapple like. The base has had a bit of grinding but not enough to remove the snapped pontil mark. There is also what looks like a decorators mark but only the faintest traces remain of the gilding.

Wondering about when and where, any thoughts re France and Bohemia?

John

Tricky one John, my best guess would be possibly French, reminds me a little of this:

Thanks Greg, see what you mean, Googling along those lines throws up a couple more that are similar in style to that one, seems favourite at the moment.

Just for reference, this one turned out to be Boston and Sandwich (similar sort of time period too): http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34877.0.html

Heres 2 photos of boston and sandwich pieces from my book showing a pattern called mitre diamond..the first is blue with the diamond in the center and the covered bowl is black and white but is easier to see the diamond pattern..i have just 2 books but there are many sandwich books and i know they made many different types cylindrical vases...the reply above is also correct stating it could be from france
