12 inches tall two tiny dinks to the side, weighs a ton ! couldn't resist at such a low,low price ! ;D ;D ;D
-
Nice one
-
it's a cracker Keith - very good find - and I'd agree that at 7/6d. it was a steal. :o) Ninety third shelf I guess by now ;D ;D
-
Gave it a miss as short of readies - but lovely to have Keith.
I suspect from your post that it's like my Loetz Karneol vase, which is extraordinarily heavy and noticeably so for size.

Very few readies needed m can't believe the price, less than a round in a pub or so I'm told ! ;D ;D Paul you'd be surprised how much I can get on one shelf ! :o ;D ;D
-
yes but I'd also just mistakenly bought a piece I don't like so ... :-[
It was the one online wasn't it? Otherwise there's been another online as well - I might be mis-remembering it as the same piece.
It's lovely.
m
-
Yes m this was online and was less than £20, not counting p&p there are a couple more online at the moment one is £500 plus the other is over £1000 ! :o
-
Wow, you have been lucky Keith. Well done, enjoy :) :)
Cheers, Nigel
-
;D ;D,sure will !

What colour is the interior please Keith?
Just curious as there is a vase in Truitt's Bohemian Glass under Harrach that I could swear is an identical decor.
It has a gilded pattern on it on what appear to be only the front of the vase area though, not much. It seems to have a pinkish interior but that might just be the photograph. pp56

Hello m, this is the colour, the rim is a bit washed out due to the flash but that creamy yellow is about right. ;D
-
yes, I'm just wondering if that particular item in Truitt's might not be Harrach but might be Stevens and Williams.
That page shows two others that are similar but don't look quite the same as the one at the bottom ... which looks more like yours.
m
-
I see what you mean, the only difference I can see, apart from the enamel work, is the 'swirl lines' appear thinner than on mine, ah ha the plot thickens ! ::) ;D ;D
-
but the bottom one in the book looks different to the other two on that page doesn't it?
(There are two vases in there that I am sure are Stuart - at least two of the group of peacock vase I am sure of)
m
-
They do and those others do look like Stuart, all the fun of collecting ! ::) ;D ;D
-
So possibly a Stevens and Williams vase has crept into the book along with some Stuart Vases.
I have also seen a photo from the Passau that has a Stevens and Williams piece in the display. It does happen.
I do muse sometimes and wonder if the Harrach depository had some other makers vases in it.
Mainly because some pieces that came from the Richardson bequest appeared to be by other makers iirc.
I think it is eminently feasible that they would have had competitor pieces to examine and 'reflect' on.

Makes you wonder if the V&A glass collection, and other museums, are all what they say they are ? ::) :o ;D ;D
-
;D I wouldn't have a clue but sure they are.
It's just occasionally something comes up and then I wonder. And time moves on and things get identified that maybe weren't before.
I have noticed though on a couple of things at the V&A where previous attributions are listed and then an update has been given, leaving the previous atts in place - so it's kind of like a chronological identification showing previous history. It's good.
