I purchased this item a couple of weeks ago and need help identifying it's manufacturer. The person I purchased it from said it was inherited from his grandparents and had been in the family for over 100 years. I have asked him for more details but haven't heard from him. It is quite a heavy piece and the colour and refraction when held up to the light is gorgeous. Any information anyone has regarding the design would be welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the suggestion Lustroustone. I have been checking out Moser pieces on the Internet. I haven't found one with the same frieze design or shape.
Val St Lambert didn't cross mind to be honest. But from what I have seen so far, I'm not sure. Are there usually markings for those pieces? I forgot to mention that my urn doesn't have any makers marks.
I am a novice at this, having only started developing an interest in glass over the last couple of years. I'm not even sure where to look for the best resources when it comes to Moser on the Internet (my usual go-to for information). The Moser website hasn't been any help either.
I feel that if I can identify the story depicted in the frieze, I may be able to narrow down the search. I'm not sure what it is about.
Any resources you can recommend would be gratefully accepted.

Odd. The link is working in the quote! I can see the thread now. I read it last night. It has given me a few new names to research but so far nothing has come up with the same frieze design or shape of the urn. I'll keep looking!

It is not VSL, but the colour I believe, is not unusual for Moser.

as you've no doubt discovered, vast amounts of glass remain without a makers label or identifying mark, which - depending on your point of view - makes the study of glass either more challenging, or more of a problem.
Obviously if we can find an identical frieze that does have a label or known attribution, then agree that would be a clincher, but believe makers of this type of glass were not uncommon.
