Title: Vintage Murano Paperweight -- maker ??
Post by: antiquerose123 on March 01, 2017, 08:22:39 AM
Hi there  ;)

Just got this the other day and love it.  Nice canes on the top, and the bottom has adventurine in it.  Base also shows age related wear.  Now in my guess -- I am thinking this is Fratelli Toso as the maker.  Seems like that is what I find more often....LOL.

Your thoughts please......Thanks in Advance !!

Hi Rose.  I agree - looks like it uses Fratelli Toso canes.

Thank you Alan for your Reply and confirmation!!    :-*

I would not be able to tell by the canes as my eyes go all cross-eyed trying to figure them out....LOL.  But I had this other one here that I thought it looked similar to....so figure it might be FT.

SEEMS like I always find FT things here.....LOL.  Thanks again Alan!!

For general info: Weights with colorful, very well formed and well set "coggy" canes (of the type that make the eyes go funny) and with a ground of masses of aventurine are very likely Fratelli Toso. So that is a good place to start looking for similar ones for comparison

But colorful, coggy canes on their own have been used by various makers.
