Title: Victorian Neoclassical Pressed Glass Vase with Lions Heads and Feet
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on March 05, 2017, 11:56:35 AM
These may have been discussed before but I could not find any posts.

Neoclassical design with 3 lions heads sitting on 3 paws as feet. Greek key pattern.  Over the years I have seen a few of these. They are never signed or marked and I think they have never had an positive ID. I was once told that Davidson may have been a possibility c 1880.

Of all the previous ones I have seen before being around 10 or so they were all black if my memory is correct. So a pair in a dark blue would seem to be quite rare.

I be interested if anyone has seen this vase in any other colours as I am sure it must have been made in other colours.

Height 7.75" and they weigh approx. 670gm each.

Hi Roy,
I'm pleased I just stumbled on your post. My dad just bought a black one of these to make up a pair only just realising his original one has no feet.  There quite big spill vases I think.
While investigating I found a white one in Cyril Manley 's book described as a waxy white. He reckons they could be Derbyshire bros, because of the Greek key pattern however the Greek key pattern seems quite common, all seem to be unmarked. So there are blue, white and black ones.

Cheers Mike
Funnily enough we bought from a Manchester seller so it may not have wondered far. It's now coming south.
