I primarily collect Blenko and vintage marbles. (The wife collects Czech perfume bottles.)
This was in a local antique store and just too cool to pass up. if this was a vintage German swirl marble... ;D
Any help to possible maker or era is greatly appreciated. I spent a lot of time online looking but found nothing even close to it.

Welcome the GMB.
Hopefully someone will be able to help with a positive id soon.
I do not know for sure where this weight may have been made, but my first idea would be Murano. The majority of Murano weights are unsigned, usually just having a paper label to show a maker or wholesaler / retailer name. Aventurine glass set in a twist would also suggest Murano as a first place for investigation.

Thanks Kevin. I honestly have no idea the source, so all opinions welcome.
I have a few handmade German swirls with lutz...

For confirmation could you please let us know what you mean by "lutz" and "ribbon lutz" ...
I understand that "lutz" in American terminology = "goldstone flakes", but I am not sure what you mean by "ribbon lutz" in connection with your paperweight.
The Marble Collectors Society of America webpages (http://www.marblecollecting.com/marble-reference/online-marble-id-guide/lutzes/) define "ribbon lutz" as being:
... a naked ribbon core swirl with lutz on both edges of the ribbon.
which does not really describe the twist section of your paperweight. (And I am not at all sure what that site means by "a naked ribbon core".)
Sorry for being picky, but differences in terminology can cause confusion.

This is a single ribbon twist with bands of lutz throughout. Not sure how you describe that in PW lingo....

Bingo, thanks!
