Title: D Barras signature. ID = Okra
Post by: Sueearnshaw on March 09, 2017, 12:11:48 PM
I just want to check my findings on Google as we all know they can be very misleading these days. I have just won a lovely little glass vase in the Okra style, cobalt blue glass, irridescent silvery blue coating, topped with green reeds and small white flowers with silvery centres. It is signed D Barras but not Okra. My Google research tells me the D Barras signature is Okra but I have doubts. Although the work is excellent and Okra like the base doesn't have the the ground out pontil and reading Artius Glass he states all production is done by Richard Golding. Can you help please?

This is our Okra piece also signed by D.Barras like yours so I'd go with Okra, R.Golding does blanks for other artists but left Okra a while ago, you can find his work at 'Station Glass'  ;D

Thanks for that. I can see it's similar but mine doesn't have the feathering in the pattern. What is the base like on yours?

It does, around the neck, much like Keith's.

Artius Glass he states all production is done by Richard Golding
No it does not, it states most was completed by him after a certain point, he would have had a hand in most items made but he was not the only glass worker working there. He does not work entirely on his own now at Station Glass either...

You have a piece of Okra, enjoy it.
