Post by: WhatHo! on March 12, 2017, 04:59:04 PM
Hi, I have found this rather unusual Orrefore decanter, does anybody know what range this comes from pls? Its has buff bottom panels and stopper. The base reads Orrefors GE 75.
cheers Wolfie

Well, I have a feeling this is an unusual one!
I've found out that GE 75 is Simon Gate - cut, frosted glass, dated 1917-18! Early as it gets really, Simon started in 1916 :)

Great find Wolfie. The decanter GE75 is part of a suite of glass called "Batt", (I could not find a Swedish translation for that word).
The GE75 seems to be an early Gate design up to 1925 or before.
In the Swedish glass factories production catalogues book there are pictures of the suite in the 1935 Orrefors catalogue, page 99.
Not sure how many years it was in production.
All the best,
Tim
