Title: large compote? ID help please. ID = Jones, Cavitt & Co.
Post by: Cynthia R on April 11, 2017, 09:16:38 PM
Hello,
I have this piece of glass that I have been unable to ID. Some suggested it looked European. Itseems too big for a compote, maybe for fruit? I really don't know. It is 11 1/2" across, 7" high and 5" base. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Cynthia

The pattern of your open comport is Jones, Cavitt & Co. No. 126 introduced in 1887.  Collector names include Zig Zag; Mitred Bars; Mitred Diamond Points; Mitred Diamond; etc.  The firm was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  I have not seen this piece before.

Thank you very much, Sid!
I have not heard of that company, so would NEVER have figured that out. I will do some research now.

Thanks again!
