Title: Opaline Glass Vase + Floral Decoration + 24Kt Gold + Handpainted
Post by: antonizz on April 13, 2017, 02:00:48 PM
Hi everybody,

Just received this vase yesterday.
Unfortunately I found out that there are a couple of chips off from the base.
Overall condition of the vase is still close to perfect.

The big floral decoration to me, as a beginner, reminds me of the Art Nouveau period.

The cut top, with the gold-paint seems to have Bohemian origin. (picture #3)
The flowers itself are nicely handpainted.

The golden decorations on the front, side and back, I believe, are real gold.
(At least is glistens very much in my loupe, in contrast to the goldpaint on top, and the base, and other vases I own.)

The wide golden ribbon right above the base, is leafgold. (Picture #6)

The bottom of the vase is hollow, see pictures.
Does this mean it's molded? Or might be moldblown?

Although the floral decoration make me suspect it's Art Nouveau Style,
I believe it's made a little before 1890.

I believe I'm actually making progress in dating these glass vases :bookworm:.
It feels like I'm the right direction, but I only need some approvement.
