Hi I would like to identify who made two Kosta Boda candle holders I have and possibly what year they were made ?
Signed marks on bottom are:
Kosta B, 13Y0 B W 296
and
Kosta B 13Y0 BW 300
ps: the Y may be a 4 in 13Y0
One has Bird of Piece etched on its front and the other is a pot of posies
Thanks for your time
Richard

Hi Richard ;D
Photos would most definitely help, but in the absence of such , my two penneth worth would be Elis Bergh and that your Y is most likely a 4 :-\

Thanks Della
Here is a picture of one of the Kosta Boda glasses for you to inspect
Thanks

And here is the other one as well !

Thanks for your efforts with the resizing and posting directly to the board, it is very much appreciated. :)
We do like bottoms here, bottoms are absolutely essential, but would it be possible to see the sticks themselves too, pretty please?
You can post up to 4 images in each message, just click on the little bit underneath the attaching box saying "more attachments" and another box will appear.
Welcome to the board. :)

:) Thank-you. Not a shape I've seen before, so I've learned something too.

hi there those B that looks like a inverted E are made by Elis Berg worked at kosta boda 1929 to 1950,,his early pieces just signed with B and model number,,in later years kosta is often added as well as the year of produktion to more importent pieces. the last of the signatur are often made by some engraver.

Thank you very much as well for confirming what Della said above !
Thanks

I feel the need for a bit of pedantry... They were made by Kosta and not Kosta Boda, this would have been before the merger of the three companies Afors, Boda and Kosta.
Elis Bergh was the designer, he did not make them himself, the glassworks employed glass blowers etc for the production of items.
If they have a deep recess then they will not be candle holders (if a candle burnt all the way down to the bottom the glass would probably crack) maybe instead posy vases.

Nice to see their hand signed/engraved
Maybe the person who actually made them was the BW engraved part (reference another previous posting on this site, hence why I asked about these markings)
But did the maker sign or the designer do it as a type of quality control ?
Another point is on larger pieces (not mine) are the full signature's actually the designers ?
Nice to clarify these points !

They would have been signed by the person whose job it was to do the signing, not the designer, one of those internet myths...
The BW might (not sure about this) be the initials of the engraver and the number afterwards denote the particular engraved picture.
