Hopefully this is of interest, a small cup at 2¼ inches with the Davidson lion mark.

It is Davidson pattern no. 82, and is shown in their catalogues of unregistered designs from between 1880  and 1890. An uncommon pattern.

Appears in the 'Cans' section of the catalogues (which I think we would now more commonly call 'Tankards'). Most of the other cans are shown with their nominal capacity - half pint or pint, sometimes both - but this can is described as being a 'toy', hence its very small size.

Another toy' can, pattern no. 252, is shown on the same catalogue page.

Thank you for adding those details Fred. I could not find another example with a quick google search.

Any idea what the function would have been, does toy refer to intended use as well as size I wonder? I have a couple of pressed glass invalid carriages and I have always wondered what they were made for.
