I recently bought at auction ( I was not present) a beautiful Skrdlovice glass vase by Maria Stahlikova, 1960's. It is beautiful and in good condition but I am worried about it. The clear glass has lines in it (obviously during the manufacture) and the bottom is unpolished - see photos.
Have I bought a beauty or something worthless.
I would be grateful for an expert opinion which will either have me jumping for joy or turn me to tears, but it is better to know! - I think!

Unfortunately I can't help, I'm not familiar with this type of glass, but I'm sure somebody can tell you if this is normal or not, but I just wanted to say, that if you love this vase and think it's beautiful, if you enjoy looking at it ... then it's priceless.

Hi, I like this vase. I do not however have a lot to say about what it definitely is, who it is by. If you bought it from the Czech Republic, there is more chance of it having an unfinished base and being from Skrdlovice. I would look in the Pardubice pattern books during the fifties section, to look for this shape and height. The colour was used by Skrdlovice at this time and other good quality factories in Europe too. The lines inside the glass are not a problem they were always in the vase. Glassmakers tell me it is something to do with the melt and ideally with the right raw glass and temperature and other things, this can be minimised avoided. Others may have more specific descriptions, but they have been there since it was made and is not a problem. You have already started finding nice glass!
