Title: Did I get ripped off? Loetz or no Loetz?
Post by: collectingfool on May 26, 2017, 03:32:53 AM
I've always liked glass and have a few pieces but never bought a Loetz piece.  Got this from a dealer this week and his lack of info was a little disturbing.  Can anyone confirm if this is Loetz or not and if it is, any additional info would be great.  Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Your vase looks to have been made by Rindskopf in a decor known as Pepita.

Wow, thank you so much for the quick response. This is obviously a piece of Rindskopf glass now that I see it. Still a nice piece but value-wise not quite the same.

I appreciate the help!  Thanks again.

I think it needs more research to determine the likely maker based on the shape of this vase, not just the decor.

Although the decor appears to be identical to that shown in the "Rindskopf Pepita" page in the "Kralik-Glass" site linked to earlier, Craig (website owner) has stated that "Pepita" is, in his view, no longer a "marker" decor for production at Rindskopf.

So, without a direct match to the shape, can we be sure of a maker? Or am I missing that shape in Craig's pages?
