Title: Help identifying Kosta Boda vase.
Post by: fionix on June 12, 2017, 08:03:01 AM
Hi,
I really need some help to identify this Kosta Boda vase we picked up this week end.

I am specially curious about the year and the designer .

I guess it is written

Kosta LH 1218 /75 and with a W or a M a little bit below.(see pictures)

Thank you for your time and Help.

 :)

Stephane

Welcome to the message board Stephane.

First your vase was made by Kosta rather than Kosta Boda, Kosta Boda was created later with the merger of the three companies Kosta, Afors and Boda. Your vase was designed by Vicke Lindstrand, the signature tells us this as the L in LH denotes Lindstrand and the H is the code used for a hand formed items, different letters were used for other production techniques (cutting etc). The design may date to the mid or late 1950s,

Nice vase.

Ooh, nice !
He did the same shape with a blue opaque centre and also in red. These aren't cheap, so congrats on a good find !

Sorry, should have posted this all together.
I'm told (but have never tested) that the W refers to pieces sold through a particular Swedish shop of the time ?
the 75 refers to the colour, blue is 90 and red 69.

I would like to thank everyone for the feedback on the vase .

Looks like we did well according to you guys   ;)

It is a very interresting subject and i am really happy to learn stuff  about glass history and designers ...  It may become something serious !!

I think we will keep the vase for a while ...
