Title: Big and heavy vase, shape BE Monart?
Post by: glassobsessed on June 14, 2017, 08:03:29 PM
Hard to convey in photos the scale of this vase, it dwarfs anything I put next to it, taller bottles just look puny in comparison. 10½ inches in height and 10½" in diameter (27cm), surely standing in the heavyweight category at 3.6kg (almost 8lbs for Imperialists).

The outer edge of the base is ground flat, all elements look Monart like to me so wondering if this vase is shape BE?

All thoughts welcome.

I'm trying, not very successfully, to get hold of the idea of the size.
Would it be possible to see a pic with something like an apple beside it, to give us something to compare?

The combination of both stripes and multicoloured whorls is not something I've seen before. I think this might be a little bit unusual. ;D

The first photo is next to an admittedly somewhat small perfume bottle, how universal are the sizes of mugs and whiskey bottles?

That does help, a lot, thanks and sorry to have bothered you with this, but
I once had a Monart miniature and  a photo of that looked every bit as "normal" as this does. The scale of the design was up or downsized to fit the individual piece.

I know mugs and whisky bottles are not neccessarily a standard size, but they do provide a good comparator. They're far more realistic than a tape measure, they're the sorts of things that might be around a room anyway.

I'm mentally crumpling balls of paper to throw into it.  ;D

It is rather enormous. 8) 8) 8)
