Post by: Olderisbetter on June 17, 2017, 04:37:57 PM
Firstly hello, I found this site after a google search for my glass, I have a long standing love of glass and very often i buy items with a very limited knowledge   :-\ , Well that said can anyone identify this item, It is about 8"s tall and10"s wide and 4"s deep, Quite flat and very heavy with a yellow interior, Thanks for looking Rob.

hi and welcome, sorry it's taken somebody so long to say anything to you at all! :)
I think you can rule out Next or the Range, but you perhaps are right in thinking of home interior places - it might be Svaja, a good quality maker, sometimes found in art galleries as well as high end furnishing stores.
It has that sort of a feel about it, to me, but I'm no expert on this!
Just thought it was about time somebody said something.  ;D

A more general comment would be that I think it is very recent, but very well made. I suspect its origins are more Poland than China.
What does the bottom look like?
We like looking at bottoms here.  ;D

It looks like it's got a walnut-ish décor... not the nut of course  :P ... but the wood.

 :)
It has a lot going on in it, doesn't it?
Cased more than once, including yellow, a difficult enamel to work with because of awkward differential annealing properties to others, and a textured, worked surface, also cased; and a nicely polished rim.

Here's an almost identical one, I've asked to use the images.

..............  assume there isn't a named maker for yours either Anne?              Nope - don't agree it looks like ordinary Walnut wood ;) ;) :-*  BUT it does look like Burr Walnut (wood) - that's ignoring the black, of course ;D

No Paul, it's not signed or identified.

Sorry i was unable to take a picture of the bottom yet as my mom had passed away monday, The bottom looks the sam as the others pictured by Anne, Quite heavy and thick and yes burr walnut would be a fair discription on the pattern.

My deepest sympathy too. It's such a horrible, horrible time for you all. Thank you for taking the time out from your difficulties to bother saying anything.
