This is driving me to despair ::) ??? Every time I take it off the shelf to wash it, I look around the net for something similar. You've guessed it, today is bath day for him.
The tree is hollow and possibly for a candle?
The bird's eyes are inside the head, not applied
The base is reminiscent of the back of a knot sculpture
110mm high
105mm wide
70mm (max) wide
495g
All suggestions gratefully received.
TIA

It sort of reminds me of LiuliGongfang glass.... or similar. :)
Rosie. :)
-
I know what you mean, Rosie, it does me too. I have tried searching for look-a-likes etc. :-\
-
I would suggest trying a search on
"ZBS Zelezny Brod Jaroslav Brychta". :)
-
Here is the catalogue for the ZBS pieces, but I can't see anything resembling your piece Della.
I'll keep looking though, I think it is charming.

I'm thinking Tittot glass as well.... maybe you can email them Della?

Rosie. :)

It reminded me very much of this kind of thing. :)

Yes, I can quite see why Sue.. (that's Anik's BTW)... all their glass is in the catalogue I posted above.... I love them, have had quite a few in my time. :)
-
It was knowing there were some of these in Aniks' shop that educated me about these lovely cheerful sculptures in the first place, so I knew I'd find one there. :)
I'm no good at navigating those catalogues, I couldn't find anything that looked right there.
-
Thank you, ladies. ;D :-*
I will look through the catalogues this evening.
I have a Tittot piece, Rosie and the finish is much better.
xx

This not tittot or luili, they are moulded, much more likely to be Chinese or Murano I think.
-
Yes, Wolfie, I've had both and I know it isn't either, though it feels lovely ;D
-
much more likely to be Chinese
YES designed by a China-man but made in Malta at the MDG factory.
It was from the early produced work and is remembered by an ex worker.
So lucky to find it on Ebay when I was searching 'Birds'
Cheers,
Patrick

And I'm so happy he went to a great home.
Many thanks, Patrick ;D
-
Mystery solved and as you say, Della, it went to a good home.
Now we just have to look out for some others!! :)
-
I think finding another might be hard........
Another worker who arrived at MDG later does not remember them, so I think this was probably made by one of the teachers because it is so well made.
The bird is a delight.

I think finding another might be hard........
How wrong I was.......... My collecting friend in Malta found this beauty today!
-
I love the bird in blue!
Is he on his way to you too, Patrick?
-
Sadly noooooooooo,
He is an avid collector of Maltese glass and is always finding something new. He has adverts all over Malta :)
His ambition is to one-day open a museum of Maltese glass.
-
And hopefully, the next one is mine.... if there ever is another one. I too am an avid collector of MDG animals and birds. :)
