I bought this vase the other day, said to be Strathearn, but I don't know. When I saw it I had to have it. It's a beauty. The colours remind me of Vasart, Strathearn or Monart. It is a big vase, 22.5 cm high and 20.5 cm at the rim, as you can see from the picture with my hand in the top. The pontil has been ground out nice and smooth, but the edge of the pontil mark has a small chip to it, probably during grinding.
I had a look through all the shapes for Vasart and Strathearn on the Scotland's Glass site without any match. Can anyone made a positive ID?
Thanks.

:)
I very much think this is what we call "cellophane glass". No maker has yet been identified, but they're suspected to be Bohemian and from a similar time period as Vasart/Monart.

A bit of a disappointment that it is not what I hoped. But it is still a quality vase. Can we find a better name than 'cellophane glass' since it implies cheap, flimsy manufacture? It is certainly not that.
Sorry, a stupid typo in the file names. Uploaded again.

It was the name Frank Andrews gave it many years ago, we all know what is meant by the phrase, it's been around for so long, and it was not to imply cheap and nasty, but to illustrate the transparency of the colours, like the wrappers on chocolates.
(before they all got changed into glued up tubes of plastic)
Once we find the name of the maker, we can substitute that for this current nomenclature. :)
It was so often mistaken for Ysart glass, it needed something to distinguish it.
