Title: BLUE CONTROL BUBBLE VASE
Post by: Dubarry on August 28, 2017, 05:06:29 AM
I've had no luck with the identification of this vase.  It seems a quality piece with a weight of 875 grams & polished pontil. It is 255mm or 10" tall & pings like crystal. Any ideas? Many thanks, Barry

Thanks for your reply Keith!

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I've had internet problems.  Hadn't thought about Stevens & Williams, my thoughts were going along towards Whitefriars but having looked at some of the controlled bubble work of Keith Murray the quality of the work is certainly similar.  I haven't come across a similar shape yet but no doubt seek and ye shall find! You mentioned you have a similar one but I imagine it has a different base? The balled stem on mine is a hard one to match up on the searches I have done 'til now, but I will keep looking.

Thanks again for the information Keith.

Kind regards
Barry

Thanks Keith, I think you have hit the nail on the head.  Seems to be a dead ringer!  A picture's worth a thousand words. I really appreciate your input with this and my wife has just looked at your photographs and given me the thumbs up!  Stevens & Williams it is!

Kind regards,
Barry

Thanks Keith and I understand that.  I must say that from your photographs it does look very, very similar.  I picked the vase up in an Op-shop for a few dollars (Australian) and after searching fruitlessly on the internet on and off for a few months began to think it was Chinese, but for the usage marks on the base which gave it a little age.  Then I thought of the GMB and within hours you came forward with your suggestion. Remarkable that you would have a similar one. Thanks again for your time and help with this.  It's off to bed for me now, I'm a bit of a night owl! (4.51am)  Barry
