Title: Paperweight Mushroom Identification Help Please
Post by: MalibuSam on October 01, 2017, 12:18:55 PM
Hiya

I am from the UK and new to the forum, so please be gentle with  me :-)

I was a collector of glass paperweights for over 20 years and have gradually been selling them as we will be moving onto a house boat and need to downsize considerably!

I started collecting when I was very young and collected weights that I liked rather than what make they were or what they were / would be worth.

I have found a couple that I could do with some assistance with if possible please?  The mushroom has a dragonfly etched on the top and has the initials PKS or PK5 on the base with the date 1997.

Any help or advice that I could get would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

I have a very funny feeling that there is a "mystery" PK mark we keep encountering but have not yet found an origin for.
I cannot, sadly, remember what sort of glass it is found on.
But we don't give up here.  ;D
Sometimes ids are instant, sometimes they take years.
I'm sure somebody else will have plenty to say about a cameo mushroom with dragonflies on it! (Even if it is just lots of oooohs and aaaahs.)

I suspect that the mushroom is by Pardip Sodera, who used to call himself Obsidian Glass. (I do not know what the 'K' stands for !).

Hi MalibuSam,

Unlike the thread for your egg shaped item, I have not added an "ID =" comment to the title of this thread as Alan's suggestion was just that - a suggestion. He could be spot on, but it does need to be looked into to ensure that the ID is correct.

In response to Sue's comment about the "mystery PK"mark, that is something that applies to a range of glass items that fall under the general "Bohemain" category. But I do not think it applies to any paperweights or mushroom style items.
