Title: Small ‘ink bottle' vase —Whitefriars,Scandi, other. Id help. ID = Caithness
Post by: Scott13 on October 14, 2017, 11:55:55 AM
Hi,
I’ve been unable to find a match - it’s clear glass, except the base which I’d say is amethyst.

Quite thin walled.
Fine concentric rings on the base.
Heavy wear on the base - as shown.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to capture the amethyst tint on its upper body.

Ht 10cm ( 4” )
Wt 190gm

Any help in identifying it appreciated  -  thanks for looking  :)

I would say "other".
Attached is the catalogue image from the Caithness catalogue 1984: one of the 5 shapes of the "Shelligoe" range.

Hi,
Yes definitely CG.
It seems so obvious now - its ‘ Heather ‘ colour and its shape should have pointed me firmly in that
direction !
Anyway, many thanks for the info and for taking the time to reply  :)
