Cheap find so no loss, thought it may have been a shape I'd not seen before, lots of nibbles, polished rim its dimensions match exactly with the one in the last picture so I'm leaning towards a 'cut-down' ::) ;D

I have removed my original reply. I realized that your vase is (I assume) Royal Brierley. My item is not, so the shape of mine is not really relevant.

is the edge bevelled nicely?
does the edge of the cut rim look like the edges of your other pieces ?
I think it looks ok actually as a shape. But that's not to say it is. Looking again, it does look a bit 'squat' or deprived of it's neck somehow.
I'm sure they made bowls and things without that neck.

Hello m ;D it's well finished but there are so many forms, with and without and funny little ones as you can see ::), I'm surprised I don't dream of RBy studio !

Ah yes! The "Tulip Vase" is "exactly" the shape of my likely Poschinger vase that I nearly added here - flat cut rim and all.

Keith but they usually have a bevelled rim on the outside edge don't they?
Has that squat neck one a bevelled rim on the outside edge?

Some do others don't, the small one has a flat polished rim ::) the lidded pot top left has a flat rim the one without a lid is bevelled, maybe the 'beveller' only worked part time ? ;D ;D

There might have been more than one person involved with finishing the rims. But m is right about comparisons of the different rims of known, untampered with examples. It's known from the Studio range that the Harris's experimented with shapes and finishes, so perhaps they were trying different sizes as well? Another thought is that it was rejected at the manufacturing stage and 'borrowed' by an employee :)

I thought Michael and Timothy just offered the design piece,(picture of trial piece thanks to Isle of Wight glass museum ) and had a difference of opinion and left, I wasn't aware they had any more input ? I'm beginning to think your last sentence is probably the truth ::) ;D ;D

Looks cut down to me, Keith. I wonder if the nibbles were as a result of that cutting down? i.e. it being done by an amateur rather than by someone used to glass repairs/restoration?
