Hello everybody,
I have a question, for some time now, about a technique that I can't find an answer too.
To illustrate my question, I'm using this add, as it has some nice close-ups and images (scroll down) and hopefully it will be a bit clearer.

I'm sure you have seen this decor before, on pieces by VSL, Baccarat, St Louis etc... a white patterned background in several patterns.
Can anybody tell me how this was applied as it always looks almost too perfect to have been done by hand, and was this unique to western Europe or can it be found in Bohemia as well?

Mike M makes some comments at the end.
I found a different maker for my globe iirc - I believe it was French as I think I had found the pattern on a marked vase iirc.
I can't remember the maker now but I think it was Vallerysthal maybe? But I sold the lampshade so didn't bother updating with the evidence.
Some of them (St Louis goblets and Val St Lambert goblets I have matched on here somewhere) I'll try and find the link.
I have a huge fruit bowl that I believe is Baccarat if I am right, and is in this acid etched background with cameo.

Thx M, it is indeed the background that I was talking about. As it is almost too perfect on each piece, I wonder how they did that. I came across one piece, signed R770 with the 'fingerprint' pattern. I don't think it's french, hence my question on use of the technique elsewhere.
